Classic Car Journeys

Classic cars evoke nostalgia and make the hearts of car enthusiasts and aesthetes beat faster. Preparing a vintage car for an adventure is a rewarding experience.

A stone chip on a modern car is much easier to repair than a classic Duesenberg. Some people choose to participate in time-speed-distance rallies for the challenge of driving their classic cars to a set destination within an allotted time.

Escorted Group Tours

Generally speaking, escorted group tours offer you a more structured experience than self-guided trips. The tour dates are set and you will travel with a group of fellow travellers, typically ranging from 16 to 20 people.

Some escorted group tours are considered "hub" tours, meaning that they have one primary location where you will stay each night. You will then drive to selected attractions on the itinerary from there, rather than staying in multiple different locations.

These are the kind of escorted group tours offered by Classic Journeys. They are a bit more structured than G Adventures' guided small group tours but not quite as organised as Intrepid Travel. You will usually share a room with another guest, though in some cases you may be able to pay an additional fee for a single room. All meals are included in these escorted tours, as are some activities such as museum visits or wine tasting. Some of these escorted group tours are also available as a self-drive option.

Road Trips

The freedom of a road trip in a classic car can be one of the greatest pleasures life has to offer. But the vehicle you choose makes a big difference to the enjoyment of the experience. For example, a Jaguar E-Type is an excellent choice for road trips because it handles long drives very well and is also the epitome of cool with its shapely lines.

A Ford Mustang is another perfect road trip car because it has space and that irresistible V8 engine roaring beneath its bonnet. It's the kind of car that makes other motorists honk and stop for a look, so it'll make you the centre of attention on any road.

Before heading out on a long road trip in your classic, check your vehicle is fit for the job with a thorough inspection by an expert and ensure you have a roadside kit in case of any issues. It's also a good idea to take your car out on long road tests in different types of conditions prior to the trip.
